TOP FEATURES

Greetings from David Tuesday, 06 July 2010

We’re gearing up for next week’s Reunion at Bent Tree Member Guest, our biggest event of the year and we hope that many of you are making plans to play this year. Entries will be taken through this Sunday. The warm weather has really allowed the fairways and roughs to green up and this will be great opportunity for you to show off our beautifully conditioned golf course. Dan Burkett and his crew will have the greens rolling at major tournament speed and the fairways green and lush!

We have added a lot of great features for this year’s event that will make it even more special.

- Breakfast, lunch, and hors d'oeuvres each day of competition. Surprise food stops around the course.

- Also, we are introducing a fun, new “Hit the Green” competition, complete with a special floating green for the target. There will be plenty of opportunity for both harassment and support as you watch the contestants try their luck at hitting the green.

- Our special Friday evening Pool Party will have an unbelievable menu along with cocktails, entertainment, dancing, and a professional cigar roller to provide freshly made cigars to your liking.

- Two day Putting Contest with two special courses set up by Dan Burkett and his crew. You have to see this to believe it as they get the greens so fast that it’s hard to keep the ball on the green. It’s great fun for you and your partner.

To sign up, either call the Golf Shop at 972-931-7326 or you can enter on ForeTees through Sunday.

Titleist Tour Van
The Titleist Tour Van has been rescheduled for Tuesday, June 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Expert Titleist fitting analyst, Glen Mahler, will be on hand with all of his fitting tools and computers to help our members select the shaft flex, shaft length, lies, lofts, and grips that best fit their swings. You can works on woods, irons, wedges, or even putters to fill your greatest needs to score better. Please call the Golf Shop to set up an appointment as each fitting will take approximately one hour and are by appointment only.

See you at the course,
David

FIND YOUR RANGE... ON THE RANGE
Course management is made infinitely easier when you know how far you hit each and every club. Imagine standing in the middle of the fairway on the 150 yard marker knowing full well that a sweetly stuck 7-Iron will carry right into the heart of the green, a 6-Iron will release towards the back and a firm 8-Iron will flirt with a forward pin position. No second-guessing, just make the swing.

The confidence of knowing that each distance has a ‘go-to’ club begins on the driving range, but how close attention do you pay to where your ball lands? Even if you do, how precise are your measurements?
If you want answers - and you want them quickly and accurately - then get yourself a laser rangefinder. Use it to measure out the markers on the range; measure how far your good, bad and average shots carry, then keep a record of these yardages and get the benefit when you take them out onto the course.

ONE PROBLEM, THREE SOLUTIONS: THE HOOK
If the thought of a tight, tree-lined dogleg to the right leaves you feeling nervous, or – even worse - you consider using an old ball whenever you notice a water hazard down the left side of the fairway then you have a problem; an untamed hook...

It’s a terrible affliction (that some 25% of you who took part in last year’s equipment survey admitted to suffering from) and is caused by an ‘inside-out’ shape swing plane combining with a closed clubface at impact. Both conditions impart right-to-left spin on the ball and –when combined - they produce the ‘duck’ or ‘snap’ hook. One big problem, three simple solutions:

Constantly playing approach shots from the rough is no fun but hook spin doesn’t stop hurting your game there. In the ‘scoring zone’ hook spin will cost you shots as your ability to hit a high, soft landing shot is negated and that ‘bounce & check’ that leaves you with a tap-in becomes ‘bounce & roll’ that runs through the green.
